With the help of her mom, Tara, she gathered winter coats from the community and spent her eighth birthday dressing street poles throughout Halifax, Nova Scotia with 7 of her friends. Each jacket had a tag that said “I am not lost! If you are stuck out in the cold, please take me to keep warm!”

Tara said it was an eye opening experience for the girls.
They definitely learned the importance of it. When we got back in the car after an hour on the street, they were all freezing and crying for the heater to be on and complaining because they were cold. And they were bundled up.

Tara says that next year she plans to do it again but is hoping to add a $5 gift card to the pocket of each coat so that the recipient can get a meal.
