17 Best Beauty Products for Travel

I love traveling, but the packing and general logistics can get extremely exhausting. However, that doesn’t stop me from being in constant motion. For example, this year I was only “home” for a total of 65 days. The rest of the time I was traveling both domestically and internationally… and, more often than not, the inter country flights I take are almost always 12+ hours long. The good news is that due to nothing else than just doing it so

Check out This Giant Blanket Knit with PVC Pipes

Imgur user Otternot recently shared her experience knitting a giant blanket out of PVC pipes. Even for those of us who don’t/can’t knit, the journey to the giant blanket is a fascinating photo story.

After getting the right thickness and shape of the wool, Otternot hung it up to dry:

Now it was time to “wind and prepare”:

Paternity leave and society’s bias – The Telegraph attempts to say dads don’t belong at home

A new law in the UK requires employers to offer a “shared” 12-month maternity leave for mothers and fathers of children born on or after April 1st, 2015.  The statute is a progressive push for equality with regard to maternity and paternity leave for parents in the workplace.  However, an article in The Telegraph attempts to argue that the law itself will fail largely because when it comes to taking care of their kids, “it’s not what fathers do.”

Adoption: Now and Then…

I came across these pictures that were taken almost 4 years ago exactly. It was the day Samuel came home.

The boys were cracking up when they saw these. He hadn’t even been in the US for 24 hours when the photos below were snapped.

I remember at the time thinking that, although he looked really happy, he would probably regress. I wasn’t taking in the moment because I was planning for major attachment and adjustment issues.

An Ode to Online Communities- Thanks for the Boob Support

I was just thinking the other day about how online support really helped me feel confident in my choices that veered from mainstream parenting. I grew up in a family that practiced and supported attachment parenting, and no one was more surprised that that wasn’t good enough. Aside from my sister, everyone had raised children and moved on from being in the thick of it all and I think that makes a difference.

Tim is Badass

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them … Keep Reading!!!

A positive NFL story that had us in tears

Lately, all the news on the NFL has been negative.

Let’s change the subject for a minute.

Meet Leah Still.

She is four-years-old and is currently battling stage 4 pediatric cancer. She’s been given a 50% chance of survival.

Leah’s dad happens to be Devon Still, a defensive tackle who made the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

Unfortunately, Still was cut from the team in late August, right before the start of the 2014 season.

Our Thoughts on Homeschooling

I’ve had a lot of people asking me lately about how we home school. The great thing about homeschooling is that you can do it however you want. Homeschooling can be completely individual to your family. However, it’s also a really hard job, and I know it helps to have ideas on how other families make it work. To that end, here are some things that work for our family…

Man throws a charity gala with pre-paid wedding funds after his engagement was called off

Phil Laboon is using his heartache for good.

After putting down $20,000 for his wedding, his engagement was sadly called off. But that didn’t stop him from doing something awesome. The 32-year-old marketing CEO decided to throw a charity gala with his pre-paid wedding funds.

He called LemonAID for Sugicorps and the party was back on, with a bit of a twist.
