Travelling alone? Consider these tips

Written by:  Rex

Travelling alone is quite an exciting experience. Those travelling by themselves frequently will agree that it is a great way of rejuvenating yourself. Travelling alone offers you ample opportunities to rediscover your love for outdoors. You can go wherever you want. Also, travelling alone teaches you the art of being self-reliant. The moment you step out of your comfort zone, you get to learn a lot of things. Many of the campers and travellers embark on solo trips in order to rediscover and rekindle their love for the outdoors.

However, travelling alone requires a certain degree of courage. Well, stepping out of the house all by yourself for the first time might give you a few jitters, but you’ll start feeling comfortable as and when you get used to solo travel.

You also need to prepare yourself for just about everything if you are planning to travel all by yourself.

Here are a few things you can consider if you are planning to travel solo:

Get the bookings done well in advance: It is always good to act early. Getting all of the bookings done well in advance will save you a lot of trouble. Also, Leave a copy of the booking details with someone who isn’t accompanying you. Your near and dear ones can contact you using these details if and when the need arises.

Have all of your stuff in place beforehand

Packing needs to be given some extra attention. Since you are travelling alone, you will not be getting any help. Therefore, you need to pack just about everything that you think you will be needing during the course of the trip. Make a list of things you will be requiring. Double check the list after the packing bit has been done. Also, don’t forget your 5.11 Tactical Boots. Do not overload your backpack. Keep the things you think you will be requiring during the trip.

Tell someone where you are going

Yes, this part is really important. If you have decided to travel alone, then tell someone where you are going. Someone should know where you are going. Also, you need to tell them the date of your return. Make it a point to tell this to a couple of your closest friends and/or family members. This will also allow you to ask for help immediately in case you are stuck in troubled waters.

Have all of your emergency numbers in place

Another important part. You need to have all of the emergency numbers in place. Have them on your smartphone’s speed-dialing system. Also, do contact emergency services if and when you feel things are slipping out of hand. Many of the hotels also provide emergency services such as medical aid, transportation, etc.

Take a lot of pictures

Get yourself clicked and share those pictures on social media handles such as Instagram, Facebook, etc. Today, network connectivity is available almost everywhere. The moment you click a picture, share it on Facebook. In this way, you are telling people about your location. It is a great way of staying in touch with the outside world while enjoying your vacation.

This article was our attempt to keep you updated about the things you need to be aware of while travelling alone. Note all of these points down in your notepad or smartphone and go through these the next time you plan to travel solo. Travelling alone is an exciting experience, but if you wish to make the most of it, then you need to prepare yourself well. Think we missed out a point? Or you have your own experience to share, let us know in the comments section.
