Tips on how to plan a baby shower

Written by:  Rex

As your belly grows bigger day by day, becoming a parent is getting real. Soon you’ll settle into the mindset of being a parent.

Between the dreaded pregnancy symptoms, there will be good days where you feel the world is full of sunshine. Then you’ll start to think about a baby shower.

So who plans the baby shower? Typically a close friend or a family member will be in charge of planning the baby shower. But this doesn’t mean that you can’t provide input on what you hope to have at the party.

This article is thus written for the planner of the baby shower in mind. Here are some tips on how to plan a baby shower.

  1. Have a Baby Shower checklist

To have a successful baby shower, it is important to stay organized so as not to miss out important information. There are many aspects to a baby shower, including the cake, invite,  guest list, décor and more.

List down everything that you might need on a spread sheet and assign the “team” to get the job done. If you are the planner, listing them down will ensure that you remember to get the task done.

  • Getting the guest list

If you are related to or you are a close friend of the expectant mother, you will already know who to invite. Still, do talk to the expectant mother to find out who she would like to have at her party. This is to ensure that everyone that she wants invited is invited, and people that she would not like to see would not be invited.

  • Find the venue

You will also have to find a suitable venue for the party. If your guest list is big, you will need a big venue. If it is an intimate party, you can make do with a house party or even the backyard.

  • Get the required logistics

Now that you have also settled on the venue, get the required number of tables, chairs and other needs ready for your party. Ensure that you have sufficient chairs especially, because you don’t want the guests to be standing for the duration of the party.

  • Baby shower favors

If you are planning to get baby shower favors, do procure them early especially if you have bigger numbers. You can also double up the favors as party decorations throughout the venue.

  • Cleaning up

At the end of the party, you will have to clean up, unless you are hosting the baby shower at a paid venue. If you are using a home, place trash bins all over the house to ensure that trash gets binned so you will not have to spillage. This will also ensure that the cleaning process if fast and efficient.

Here are some simple tips for you to plan a fun and exciting baby shower. Remember to be organized so that the expectant mother can have a party to remember for life!
