Tips For Families Juggling A Busy Schedule

Written by:  Jamie

It is true that the modern world is very fast paced. In fact, some families barely have enough time to devote to a meal together. While this is just life, there are ways to make sure you have adequate family time. Of course, it will not be easy, but with a few alterations of every member’s schedule, it will be possible. One thing is for sure everyone will need to be flexible and willing to commit to these changes. Below, you will discover several tips for families juggling a busy schedule.

Organization

Disorganization is the cause of poor performance. If America’s top companies operating in a disorganized manner, they would not be successful. Families should also follow the same rules, because the organization is the key to getting every task completed properly. Everything from extracurricular activities to mealtimes should be organized, so everyone can participate and enjoy.

Carpooling

It is true that many families spend a large portion of their time on the road. Regardless, if you are traveling to a sporting event, school or work, this is a time that could be spent performing other tasks. If you are interested in saving time, as well as money, you should consider carpooling with those who live in your vicinity. For instance, if your next-door neighbor has a child who attends the same school as your children, carpooling could be beneficial. Just contact the neighbor to see if they would be interested in taking turns transporting all the kids to school.

You can also do the same thing with sporting events, afterschool activities and church programs. The extra time you save can be spent on cleaning your home, budgeting your finances or preparing a special meal for your family. You can even utilize this time to remove collections from your credit report.

Share Chores And Responsibilities

Encouraging everyone to participate in chores will cut your cleaning time in half. Create a chore list, so everyone will know exactly what needs to do throughout the week. Regardless, of the day that the chore is done will not matter, only that it is completed within the seven-day period. If every family member performs their chores as initially agreed upon, you would have plenty of extra time for special events, movies and vacations.

Open Communication

Regardless of what people believe, no family is perfect. There is always a problem within the household that needs to be addressed on a daily basis. The key to addressing these problems effectively is open communication. Always keep a door open for communication, so each family member will be able to express any issues they are facing. The best time for communicating is mealtime, giving every member time to talk about their everyday experiences.

Create A Calendar

Calendars can be utilized as visible cues for events, reminders and notes. Once you create the calendar put it in an area, where everyone will have easy access to it. Encourage everyone to jot down their appointments and important information pertaining to school or sports. This way all family members will be able to see what is on the agenda for the next day and the entire week.
