When you’re on vacation you want to be able to relax and enjoy yourself, so it’s important that you’re prepared for anything. Nothing is worse than heading to a summer destination without your swim suit or leaving your home only to realise you’ve left your phone charger or wallet beside your bed.
To help you out before you leave for your much needed vacation, I’ve made a short list of absolutely essential things you need to make sure you pack before you’ve walked out the door!
Travel Documentation
First and foremost, it’s important that you’re aware of what your vacation destination requires in terms of documentation, including visas and passports. If you’re travelling overseas this is especially important as you won’t even be able to travel without your documentation!
Your destination may also require proof of Covid-19 vaccination so ensure you have your vaccination certificate handy just in case.
Toiletries
You never know when an unexpected night out or day at the beach will come up while on vacation, which is why it’s always good to be prepared with some extra toiletries.
Items like sunblock, moisturizer and first aid equipment are always handy to have just in case the weather turns out to be a bit more wild than you initially thought.
Medication
If you’re vacationing out of the country, it’s especially important to take any medication that may be required for your vacation. If you plan on staying overseas for an extended period of time, consider taking extra medications just in case.
Sleeping pills with melatonin are also a lifesaver if you’re not a great flyer and need those much needed Z’s while flying high in the sky!
Sleeping Aids
Many vacation destinations require long flights or car trips which can be exhausting – especially if you suffer from sleep apnea! That’s why it is so important to remember packing a travel size CPAP machine, so you can enjoy your vacation without having to worry about getting enough sleep.
Technology & Portable Chargers
It’s easy to get lost in vacation mode and forget about the outside world, which is why it’s important not to leave any of your technology at home. For this reason, it might be a good idea to make a list of all the technology you might be travelling with like laptops, mobile phones, cameras and of course all of your charging docks.
It’s also a great idea to include a portable charger in your packing list just in case you find yourself in places without available electrical ports.
Power Converters/Charging Ports
If you’re travelling overseas, chances are that your electronics will need an adapter plug in order for them to work! I recommend buying a universal travel adaptor so you don’t have to worry about finding the right plug for your vacation destination.
Warm Clothes
If there’s one thing I’ve learnt from traveling, it is not to underestimate how cold some places can get – especially around this time of year! That’s why I always make sure that my vacation packing list includes a good warm jacket and a few extra layers just in case.
Swimwear
You never know when you’ll find yourself needing to take a dip during vacation, so make sure your vacation packing list includes at least one swimsuit! I also recommend bringing along some trunks for those times where there’s no pool but you still want to go swimming.
Finally, you should always triple-check that you have everything in order for your vacation away. I highly recommend making a list of things that you intend to bring and check it twice! Happy travelling!
