If you are looking for a great resource for parenting, I definitely would suggest The Other Baby Book, by Megan McGrory Massaro and Miriam A. Katz
It is a very good compliment for anyone interested in attachment parenting and raising their baby naturally.
It’s also useful for people that may not have thought of an alternative way to raise their baby, because the authors are never pushy.
Chapter 1: Touches on birth, and is quite informative. It was useful for giving each birthing option and the pros and cons of each one. It gave you food for thought to explore other options.
Chapter 2: Covers attachment parenting and touch. It reinforces the benefits of wanting to hold your baby.
Chapter 3: It speaks about the benefits of breastfeeding. It also gives facts about the benefits of breastfeeding past a year. I found it extremely informative. At the end it gives precautions about formula, but if you do have to use formula it briefly touches on what to look out for, as well as tips to formula feed healthfully and successfully.
Chapter 4: Benefits of co-sleeping while giving the precautions necessary for safe co-sleeping.
Chapter 5: Pottying without diapers -approaches the subject in a gentle way. Also the chapter covers cloth and disposables.
Chapter 6: Relating to your baby. The chapter as a whole was really good. It speaks about how much we don’t need. Such as, a lot of money, toys, educational products, classes- the most important person for your baby is you.
Chapter 7: Eating, or baby led solids. I love this chapter! I wish I would have read this when Aram was little and refused solid foods. I would have been much less stressed.
Chapter 8: Flowing with your baby. Let your baby lead. I do like this chapter and agree with the message. It’s a great wrap-up to the end of the book.
I gave this book to my sister, a mother of five, currently parenting an infant under one. She loved it. She has been attachment parenting for sixteen years, and even she said she learn new information from this book.
