Stop shaming moms for checking their phones while their kids play

Recently, a Facebook post, from a mom who insists that we all put our phones down when our children are around, has gone viral. She traded her phone for a pen and paper and tallied up her children’s glances in her direction.

28 times my loves would have questioned if they were alone emotionally. 28 times my kids would have been reassured that who you are online is what really matters

It made me think. Of those 28 times, … Keep Reading!!!

Jill Duggar’s husband upsets parents with new Instagram photo

Derek Dillard, Jill Dillard’s (nee Duggar) husband, posted a cute photo of himself and son Israel to his Instagram account, this weekend. The accompanying caption read “Babysitting this guy this morning”. Comments immediately began pouring in upset over the caption.

Most of the comments took umbrage with the use of the term “babysitting” by a father referring to his own son. On the other side of the fence were people complaining that it’s all semantics and the word doesn’t matter.… Keep Reading!!!

Although, online mommy groups certainly made me aware very quickly that this was the box we fit into and this was the label we must use! One of the big concerns we had when we found out we … Keep Reading!!!

Adjusting to Newborn Twins – Our First Week

Attempting to Prepare for Twins

I’ll admit it, I found it very hard to be excited about my twins while I was pregnant. I had moments but most of the time it was sheer terror about what was coming our way. Previously, I wrote about some of these struggles; It’s Okay to Not Be Excited About an Unplanned Pregnancy. As my July 20th EDD approached this fear only intensified and I was 50/50 wanting them out because the pregnancy … Keep Reading!!!

Talking to Our Kids about World Tragedies

In a world where we are often surrounded by scary, sad news stories it’s hard to completely protect our kids from seeing these stories. Children are intuitive; they overhear us in the other room, they pick up on our emotions, they overhear us talking when we’re sure we’re out of earshot, they hear people outside of the home talking. They will almost always find out what’s going on. The question becomes how do we help them understand and cope without … Keep Reading!!!

In the second episode of HBO TV show The Newsroom, an idealistic executive producer bounces into the meeting room with a whiteboard, where (after accidentally knocking over the entire easel) she outlines the new direction in which she intends to take the evening news hour she and her team produces.

She writes down several questions that she wants the news team to ask themselves as they write a story. For example, “Is this the … Keep Reading!!!
