Inside maternity bags of expectant mothers around the world

International nonprofit WaterAid has come out with a series of photos focussing on what moms around the world pack in their bags when preparing to give birth. The goal is to raise awareness of the lack of clean water, hygiene and sanitation in many areas. In some areas it is so bad that hospitals don’t even have safe water access.

‘Rainbow babies’ are celebrated in these before and after photos

The term “rainbow baby” refers to a baby born following a miscarriage, still birth or infant loss. It references the rainbow at the end of the storm and signifies the brightness and color this new baby brings back to their parents’ lives.

Photographer Captures Expectant Couples in Early Morning Slumber

Between 2009 and 2012 Russian photographer, Jana Romanova, completed a photo-series featuring 40 pregnant Russian couples sleeping, one representing each week of pregnancy.
