Regional health unit offers breastfeeding toolkit to local businesses

A health unit in the Grey Bruce Region of Ontario, Canada has put together a Breastfeeding Friendly business toolkit. This kit is designed to help businesses and organizations with strategies and resources to support their customers as well as their employees. This is great timing as just this summer a local restaurant asked a nursing mom, who was waiting on a friend, to leave their premises, in direct defiance of Ontario’s Human Rights Code.

On Thursday, authorities in Arica, Chile found Reina breastfeeding a missing 2-year-old child inside the mechanic’s workshop where she lived. Target Takes a Big Step to End Gender Division in Its Stores

Today, on their website, Target announced that their toy section will no longer have gender specific signage. Customers have been asking for this for quite some time and Target has finally listened.

While their stores won’t be completely free of gender division it is a huge step. They have said their clothing will still have gender-based signage but that they recognize toys, home or entertainment products do not need to be separated by gender.

Preschool Opens inside Nursing Home with Beautiful Outcomes

A hospital in Seattle has found a way to integrate daycare and assisted-living into one facility. Their new “Intergenerational Learning Center” brought a preschool into Mount St. Vincent nursing home. Each day the 400 adults living in the center are welcome to join the kids in activities from music and dancing to story telling to just visiting and connecting.
