In a recently recorded interview with Katie Couric, Canada’s “first lady”, Sophie Grégoire-Trudeau, speaks candidly about a variety of issues. Near the end of the interview, Katie mentions Sophie’s recent interview in Chatelaine, which seems to have gone mostly unnoticed. A group of businesses in Montreal, Quebec are coming together to make their support of nursing moms known. The new Route du Lait (which translates to The Milk Way) is a network of businesses in Montreal that have agreed to provide a safe environment for nursing moms, guaranteed to be free of judgment and harassment.

Check out this badass traffic stopping breastfeeding photo

Imagine driving through downtown Chicago, on one side of the road you see the iconic Tribune Building, then you turn your head and seeing a group of women, standing in the middle of the road, nursing their babies. This is exactly the scenario that Abby, also known as The Badass Breastfeeder, envisioned and brought to life.

‘We are not “still” nursing, we are just nursing’

Standing in front of the mirror, right after a shower, seeing your every imperfection staring back at you from the fog covered glass. We’ve all done this. Just stood there wishing we could change this and that. Our bodies do so much for us and demonstrate immeasurable strength. Yet we spend so much time thinking about how we can look better, rather than celebrating who we are. While there are often outside pressures from media and other women, we tend … Keep Reading!!!

Pregnant dog saves a toddler’s life by breastfeeding him

The story sounds strange but is much more beautiful than weird. This is Reina. Reina, whose name is Spanish for “Queen”, is a hero this week. On Thursday, authorities in Arica, Chile found Reina breastfeeding a missing 2-year-old child inside the mechanic’s workshop where she lived. Not only did Reina wet-nurse a child of a different species but she did it while pregnant! The Arica authorities believe Reina saved the boy’s life, who they found almost naked beside her. Child-led Weaning: Brooke

Brooke Bates

My almost 4 yr old daughter still nurses for a few minutes before her nap and bedtime. Occasionally she wants to nurse when she wakes up also. We don’t nurse in public anymore now that she’s older but I do share that information with other moms of toddlers when the subject comes up in conversation. Moms need to know that it is healthy and within the range of normal.

Did you practice child led weaning with your child? … Keep Reading!!!

Photographer Ivette Ivans’ Breastfeeding Photo Project

Lithuanian born photographer Ivette Ivens has done a beautiful series on breastfeeding. The 25-year-old mother of 2, who now lives in Chicago, breastfed her son until he was 3 and has made it her mission to help normalize nursing in the American culture.

I nursed them both anywhere I wanted. From church to parties, from farmers market to high-end designer stores. I believe that mothers should nurse their little ones whenever they want to. Children know when it’s time to

Breastfeeding a Toddler vs. Breastfeeding an Infant

Breastfeeding a toddler is not common in the West (although it may become more common as most professional health organizations have now recommended breastfeeding until at least two years). The fact that breastfeeding a toddler is uncommon in the West, doesn’t mean it is any less normal to breastfeed a toddler, but it is grossly misunderstood, and for good reason: with so many people who have only had experience breastfeeding infants only, why on earth would we expect people to … Keep Reading!!!
