The story of my unassisted twin homebirth

Before getting to the birth you need to understand why and how we ended up with an Unassisted Birth. It was a journey.

The Pregnancy

I learned early on that I was having di/di twins. This means each baby has their own sac and their own placenta. I was not excited. I spent very little of my pregnancy actually excited. Immediately, the midwives threw a whole list of twin risks at me, and told me I was … Keep Reading!!!

Photographer takes breastfeeding photos to a real, raw, and beautiful place

Photographer Suzie Blake wanted to do a photo project that showed the realities of what day to day breastfeeding looks like. She stripped away the make-up, the fancy hair, and the pretty backdrops to get real and raw. Suzie started with a self-portrait of an over tired-mom and reached out on Facebook looking for other moms to participate.

This project is about portraying breastfeeding in all its beautiful messiness. This is about tired eyes and no makeup. This is about

Turn baby turn: How I tried to flip a breech twin

At my 35 week appointment my doctor and I started discussing my options since Baby A was breech and B was head down. In this instance, he recommended c-section if one of them did not flip. The reason is that twin A’s chin could lock onto twin B’s chin during delivery and get stuck. Now I should note that the way they determine who is Baby A is based solely on who is closer to the cervix. An external version … Keep Reading!!!

Switched at birth: New parents on the search for their biological son, taken from them in hospital

One of the worst things a parent-to-be could imagine is their child being switched in the hospital. There have been movies based on this (both fictional and non) a TV show based on this exact scenario is currently on air. For Richard Cushworth and his wife Mercedes Casanellas it’s not a movie, it’s their life. They are real life parents searching for their biological son. Even worse, they are making a pretty good case for this being planned by their … Keep Reading!!!

We’re doing our best! Attachment Parenting with infant twins

Attachment Parenting is something that came naturally for us. Not that we don’t struggle just like everyone, but it fit our family best. We didn’t even realize there was a name for it or such a following of it in the beginning. Although, online mommy groups certainly made me aware very quickly that this was the box we fit into and this was the label we must use! One of the big concerns we had when we found out we … Keep Reading!!!

Crowd-Birthing: A new birth trend

Featured image credit: One Tree Photography

Not that long ago women birthed alone, only doctors and nurses trained to see such horrors were allowed to be with expectant moms. Men were in the waiting room, hands full of cigars, anxiously awaiting the doctor to come out and announce if they had a new daughter or son. He dared not see his wife in any state other than dolled up making his dinner. Friends and family waited at home for carrier … Keep Reading!!!

Husband Surprises Wife with News of Her Pregnancy

In a reverse of what we’re used to seeing, a husband surprises his wife with the news of their pregnancy.

Sam had an inkling that Nia was pregnant when she was 2 weeks late. He came up with a slightly strange plan: to steal her urine out of the toilet and test without her knowing. Despite being diluted, the test came up positive almost immediately.

Sam then surprises Nia and their two children with the great news. Clearly, Sam is … Keep Reading!!!

Netflix Announces Unlimited Parental Leave Plan

Netflix has announced the most amazing parental leave program I’ve seen yet. Netflix employees are now entitled to unlimited time off during the first year of their child’s life – with full pay! This program is offered to both mothers and fathers. Netflix has even taken the step to make sure it applies to adoptions. They have really ensured all employees, no matter who they decide to extend their families, are covered.

At any point, employees are welcome to come … Keep Reading!!!
