Soak Up The Sun On Waikiki Beach

Written by:  Jamie

When you’re vacationing to Hawaii, what’s the best thing to do? Hang out on the beach, of course! Waikiki Beach in Honolulu is one of the most beautiful in the world. Plus, it’s full of fun activities that will keep you entertained all day long.

Swim and Play

The aquamarine water on Waikiki Beach is clear and inviting. Along this stretch of beach, you’ll find spots where you can bob up and down in the waves and enjoy some of the finest waters in the world. There are also some safe, shallow areas for splashing around with young children.

Of course, the white sand is just as nice. Stretch out on the beach to catch some rays, or have fun making a giant sand castle.

Have an Adventure

If you’re ready to take your water experience to the next level, Honolulu is the place to do it. Snorkeling through the clear water is a great way to get an unforgettable view of the fish and coral that call this area home. You may even spot a famed sea turtle!

For an adventure that you certainly won’t forget, try your hand at surfing! To really learn a thing or two, sign up for a beginner surfing lesson.

If you’d rather be on top of the water instead of under it, go sailing in an outrigger canoe. You could also take a tour on a relaxing catamaran. For a truly awe-inspiring catamaran trip, schedule your tour for sunset. It’s a unique, breathtaking experience.

At many of the Waikiki resort and spa options along the beach, you can take part in these activities without leaving the property. Your hotel might offer equipment rentals, tours or professional lessons.

Learn about Hawaiian Culture

When you think of Hawaii, do you think of luaus and hula dancing? If so, you’re not alone. While you’re visiting, be sure to make time to attend a Polynesian show that highlights these aspects of local culture. Many hotels and other venues host authentic Polynesian events where you can watch dancers. You can also learn what’s involved in making leis and learn about Polynesian tattoos. There may even be fire dancers!

Spend Time in the Shade

You can enjoy the beach without spending all day in the sun. Cabana rentals provide a shaded spot to enjoy the breathtaking views of Waikiki Beach. If you’re ready for some time by the pool, you can find poolside cabanas as well.

You can also step away from the beach to explore some of Honolulu’s best attractions. Learn about local customs at the Polynesian Cultural Center, explore the exhibits at the Bishop Museum Collection, or find a good deal at the Waikele Premium Outlets. Be sure to visit local restaurants for delicious kalua pig or poke!

Stay Near the Fun

When you’re in the Waikiki Beach area, be sure to stay along the waterfront. You’ll enjoy easy access to the water and convenient facilities for snorkeling or boating. One popular waterfront hotel is the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach and Spa. It offers magnificent views from each room’s private lanai, and one of those Polynesian shows mentioned above. Aside from local flair, the Hyatt also offers the amenities travelers expect from a national chain.

No trip to Hawaii is complete without a visit to the shore! No matter what hotel you choose, staying along Waikiki Beach ensures that you’ll have plenty of time to enjoy Honolulu’s dramatic views and always have something memorable to do.
