Six-year-old orphan deals with loss by starting a mission to make others smile

Written by:  Jamie

By the age of six, Jaden Hayes had lost both of his parents but he refuses to let that keep him down. He is on a mission to make 33,000 people smile.

With the help of his aunt, who is his guardian, he has collected 500 smiles already. It started with Jaden asking his aunt to buy him toys he could hand out to kids and has grown into a mission to make every person in his Savannah, Georgia hometown smile just once.

Jaden’s cousin, Tasha Compton, has been documenting the ‘Smile Experiment’ on her Instagram.

It’s certainly helped me a lot because me and his mom were real close.  She helped raise me. It’s helping me, and I know it’s definitely helping my mom.

It’s incredible what determination this young child has, to take his grief to try and inspire the world, to keep his parents spirit alive, it’s breathtaking to see.
