“Your Health Today” is an educational book which was a sex-ed publication given to 9th graders in Fremont, California, and voted in as part of their curriculum by the school board.
But parents are saying it’s too sexy. (Watch out 50 Shades of Grey…it looks like you have some competition.)
Some of the complaints:
- The book teaches you how to talk to prospective partners about past sexual history.
- It explains masturbation, foreplay, and erotic touch.
- It includes drawings of anatomy that some are calling “porn”.
- And there is even a section that discusses bondage with ropes and handcuffs.
Personally, I think all of this sounds pretty standard, except for the bondage section. I’m not sure if I would even call that offensive, I’m just more surprised to see fetishes mentioned. Perhaps they were mentioned in a section educating teens about the science behind sexual fetishes? I guess we’d have to see the book to really know.
Anyway, this has riled up a lot of folks, and there is now a Care2 petition with over 2000 signatures demanding that the book be removed from Fremont schools.
What do you think?
