QuikTrip is a chain of gas stations and convenience stores. But they set themselves apart by being community oriented. QuikTrip teams up with many different organizations to help the communities they are located in. One of those organizations is National Safe Place.
The Safe Place sign is posted at every QuikTrip and indicates that the location provides access to immediate support for anyone in danger. If you are experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, sex trafficking, are a lost child, runaway youth, or any crisis situation where you are fearing for your safety they have a secluded area, hidden from others, where you can sit until help arrives. Employees are all trained not to tell anyone that you are there. They will contact authorities an help will arrive within 20-30 minutes. All you need to do is walk in and tell them you are in need of a safe place. They’ll do the rest and keep you protected.
This was originally meant for troubled youth ages 12-17 but has recently expanded for abused persons as well.
Text the word “SAFE” and your current location (address, city, state) to 69866 if you are in trouble. Within seconds you’ll receive a response with the nearest Safe Place location and be given the option to text with a mental health professional for more help.
QuikTrip is not the only place to find Safe Place signs. They can be found all over the US. Check the Safe Place website for locations near you.
If you need help, it’s there. It’s free. It’s confidential. It’s available! You are not alone, you just need to take that first step and reach out.
If you would like to get involved by volunteering, donating, or starting a safe place contact National Safe Place.
