In West Philadelphia born and raised this weather-woman owns those who body shame.
I couldn’t resist, but the only part I know for sure is true about that is that Philadelphia based meteorologist, and mom to be, Katie Fehlinger had an epic response to body shamers.
Katie is 35 weeks pregnant with twin girls and still working (and bless her for that!! I couldn’t even get off the couch or get dressed at 35 weeks with the twins). Who better to tell people how hot it is than a pregnant woman? Because we all know what it’s like being pregnant in the heat! Enter the trolls.
Not the funny Target troll types either, the jerks who call her a “sausage in casing” or tell her “sticking your pregnant abdomen out like that is disgusting.”
Katie responded, on Facebook, with grace and eloquence and shuts down the haters.
I say let’s raise a Shirley Temple to swollen feet, stretch marks, nausea, all the extra pounds and the dark circles! They’re badges of motherhood. And for those of you who think that’s “disgusting”, remember a woman went through the very same thing to bring YOU into the world.
I credit her for not calling them third grade school yard names, because I would not have held it together as well in my third trimester, in the heat of the summer.
I raise my Shirley Temple to you, Katie. Oh who am I kidding? I’m not pregnant anymore so mine is vodka!
Update: A big congratulations to Katie on welcoming her daughters into the world. Mom and babies are doing great!
