I vaguely remember meeting Aram for the first time.
He was three days old and they wheeled me into the NICU. One of the nurses rolled me up to a little plastic container holding him.
I went to peek in but before I could see him another nurse stopped me. “I’m sorry, I just need to check your ID bracelet and make sure it matches the baby’s. I know, you’re thinking ‘but I know my own baby!’ I’m sorry, it’s … Keep Reading!!!
Did you know? $1 can give clean water to one person for over a decade.
Why is water life-altering?
Many people have heard about the Mother who lost her legs saving her children during a disastrous Henryville Indiana tornado in March. However, most of us don’t know her name or the details of her story.
Stephanie Decker wrapped her eight-year-old son and five-year-old daughter in a blanket, and used her own body as a shield from the huge pieces of debris that used to be their home.
Decker relived the horror during the height of the devasation:

Something to help you get through the rest of the week–
Jonathan Tyler And The Northern Lights have a mix of soul and country in their authentic rock sound. They have been called “Kings of Leon with Balls,” and have been compared to anyone from Led Zeppelin to Alice in Chains. If you listen to their album you will understand why every comparison has been made. They are that good.
They have a strong and loyal following, but it … Keep Reading!!!
This Picture Sums Up The Beauty of a Multiracial Family :
Always inspired to be more like the other, no matter how ridiculous it may seem to the outside spectator.
Differences are noted (and noted often), but at the end of the day, having clear differences in the household just broadens the realm of possibilities for everyone.… Keep Reading!!!
Brian and I went with the kids to see Disneynature’s Chimpanzee on opening day. It’s really no surprise that we loved it. We knew it was going to show the story of a dominant male adopting an orphaned chimp (which was truly beautiful). What surprised me was how eloquently the documentary covered the topic of breastfeeding. Oscar, the three-year-old chimpanzee, was shown breastfeeding with his mother throughout the day. The narrator explained that Oscar eats solid food, but is not … Keep Reading!!!
If you are looking for a great resource for parenting, I definitely would suggest The Other Baby Book, by Megan McGrory Massaro and Miriam A. Katz
It is a very good compliment for anyone interested in attachment parenting and raising their baby naturally.
It’s also useful for people that may not have thought of an alternative way to raise their baby, because the authors are never pushy.

Chapter 1: Touches on birth, and is quite
Being an adoptive transracial family, we always knew we were going to face hardships other families would never have to deal with.
Racism was something we expected, but I think we were unaware of the different kind of attacks we would face. What we have noticed the most are the subtle but insidious comments and disapproving looks.
Over time it gets easier to ignore the outside silent judgement from other people, but no matter how thick your skin is, it … Keep Reading!!!
My “fur” post was hastily put together. And I have to admit, was a bit of a social experiment. The views were mine, but fur isn’t something I normally would ever write about. I just don’t find it that interesting of a topic, or so I thought.
The news yesterday was being flooded with the Kim K fur debacle. My husband pointed out that she was benefiting from the press coverage. We started a discussion about how fur in itself … Keep Reading!!!
Invisibility- specifically to the male species.
A prime example of my child invisibility cloak happened at Whole Foods Market.
There is geeky overly buff bag-boy that wears shirts five sizes too small. He helps us with our groceries Every. Single. Day.
He asks me how I’m doing, plays around with the kids, and bags our loot.
One day, a few weeks ago, Brian offered to watch the kids and I ventured to Whole Foods on my own.… Keep Reading!!!
My parents had professional photos taken when I was 18 months old. I wanted to breastfeed in the middle of the session, and my mother obliged me. The photographer quietly snapped pictures while my parents were having a moment with me. They ended up loving the breastfeeding photos the most. To this day, a large framed photograph still hangs over one of their fireplaces in their home.
I love how my mother never made breastfeeding a dirty or secret act. … Keep Reading!!!
