It looks like we are able to cross a task off our bucket list in an unexpected way again.
Number 8– Have Professional Family Photos Taken.
Pathways to Family Wellness is going to be a special magazine for our family for a number of reasons. The relationships we built with everyone working on that issue (the staff at Pathways, and also the people brought in specifically for that issue, like Lori Dorman) have been real and meaningful.
Sister Donna lives in a rural area a couple hours outside of Awassa, Ethiopia. We had the honor of meeting her at her home during our trip, and brought her back up to Awassa for a couple of days. I cannot express in words what a beautiful woman she is.
We were able to speak to the sister at length about her experiences living in a very rural area of Ethiopia where malaria rates are the highest in the … Keep Reading!!!
That’s right I said it…..It Starts with Pee On A Stick.[…] I am going to take some time and write about my own personal experiences and stuff that I did during T’s pregnancy, birth and the short time after that in hopes that new fathers and just men / dads in
When we said our vows 11 years ago, I never would have guessed we would be celebrating our anniversary at a Pride Parade. But here we were, all five of us, figuring out what our signs were going to say. What was our most important message to the world on this day?
Mine said, “We heart our Gender-Variant Son!”
I was pretty impressed when my hubby decided on “My Son is Perfect.” He hasn’t always known what to do about

From experience, I think practicing attachment parenting (AP) principles has had a positive impact on my children and my family as a whole. I believe in it so much that I’ve become an AP Advocate to help spread the word about how awesome this form of parenting is.

What a weird couple of weeks!
We got home from an amazing trip to Ethiopia and I was welcomed back with some serious health issues.
The Pathways fall issue happened to be released with us on the cover right when I returned. We took the photo a couple of weeks after the TIME cover was released as a response to that cover, with an article that shared our story of what had happened. However, the quarterly non-profit publication … Keep Reading!!!
We all made it back safely from Ethiopia! I want to give you a quick update about the trip, but I don’t even know where to start. It was by far one of the most important trips I’ve ever taken in my life. Obviously the highlight was meeting Samuel’s birth mother at the center, then spending a day at her home.
In other news:
Below is a video using mostly candid and non-professional images of our time in Ethiopia.
You will see all the professional coverage in various media outlets soon. We are so excited different projects are showing interest in what is going on over in Awassa, Ethiopia.
Thank you to everyone featured in this video:
Lori Dorman– For giving your time and family photography skills to really capture the spirit of children and mothering in the area.
I apologize for not posting very much. I haven’t been feeling well and the Pathways cover took us a little off-guard with the mainstream media attention it started to get. This time my comment moderators are giving me only positive comments coming through, which I know is unimportant, but is nice to hear.
I wanted to explain a little more about the new cover. … Keep Reading!!!
It looks as though I’ve contracted malaria along with a couple of other things. Another of our Ethiopia team members also developed malaria and a host of other maladies. Please pray for his recovery and medical treatment.
It was pretty cool coming back to the kids having a blast while I was away. It is so funny – the misconception that babywearing and breastfeeding your infants will turn them in to needy, clinging children couldn’t be any farther from … Keep Reading!!!

I’ll tell you right up front that this topic is one that my husband and I don’t agree on. We have come to a meeting of the minds, per se – a decision we both … Keep Reading!!!
