Alright ladies, here are your choices:
Or the ever ambitious sounding-
It seems the importance of any career with children somehow gets downplayed in our culture. Childcare workers, I’ve observed, get treated like lower class citizens. Teachers get paid so little and are demeaned even more by being forced to buy supplies for the children they are teaching (the future of this country, I might add!). Then, mothers and fathers choosing to “stay … Keep Reading!!!
No, I’m not joking…
Check out this unexpected conclusion to Dr. Paul Okami’s study on children’s exposure to parental “household” nudity:
“Boys exposed to parental nudity were less likely to have engaged in theft in adolescence or to have used various psychedelic drugs and marijuana.”
“Girls were also less likely to have used drugs such as PCP, inhalants, or various psychedelics in adolescence. “
Why is this? More on this study later, but it seems the children who are … Keep Reading!!!
We decided to spend this weekend in Carmel!
A big part of my childhood was spent there, so I love going back.
We do encounter one problem. The men in my family (and the ones we marry) tend to be abnormally tall, and the houses in Carmel are built for abnormally small people.
Eating is one of my favorite things to do, and some of the best restaurants are in town.
We met my … Keep Reading!!!
I sat there on the cold concrete ground, in a pool of blood that was growing bigger by the second, feeling completely numb from the waist down, just staring at my 8.5-month pregnant stomach wondering if my beloved baby girl inside was still alive.
Five minutes earlier I was upstairs playing with my 11.5-month old son while my husband was taking a shower and the sweet little girl in my womb, due for birth in just 2 weeks, was … Keep Reading!!!
The boys and I were watching a video on the computer, minding our own business…
Later in the day I found about 1000 photos of us. All from when we were watching the video.
It would be more creepy if the photos weren’t so ridiculous.
So, you think you don’t react to the TV? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Here are some highlighted shots (Samuel has the best expressions):
So, now I need to make sure I’m fully clothed … Keep Reading!!!
I want to encourage all adoptive parents to consider journaling to their child(ren)’s birth mother/father. Even if you don’t believe the parent will ever be able to see your letters, it may one day be a comfort to your child when he or she is older. Also, it is nice to get down in writing some of your thoughts and struggles regarding the absence of the biological family.
Plus, you may never know. One day that journal may very well … Keep Reading!!!
I wanted to share this amazing family photo captured by Lori Dorman when we were in Ethiopia.
Pictured are Samuel’s brothers, sister, and mother/ama. The resemblance he bears to all of them is unquestionable.
It’s the one time of year that women can dress like strippers and men can dress as women and no one bats an eyelid. Frankly, I think there is an awesome element to that.
However, the lack of diversity is where my issues lie. Disney Princess as an adult? Here are your top choices…
I soon realized you can get ANY costume in a sexy version.
Here are the most entertaining:
There was a boardroom of … Keep Reading!!!
Well, it happened. Brian had his first interview.
We received an email a few weeks ago for an interview request. What made us excited was it wasn’t for me, it was for Brian! They wanted to get his views on AP. This is the first time anyone has ever asked to talk to him about it.
“It’s about damn time!” Brian said. I agreed. We were excited and said yes before we had time to really let … Keep Reading!!!
Well, it happened. Brian donated his hair. It happened unexpectedly, so there are no photos before or during the big chop.
It was pretty cool to find out that Brian’s curly locks were deceiving us. Those ringlets when straightened were almost longer than my hair! Brian was about at the end of his patience with growing it and found out he had to cut it for his job, so he was quite relieved when we found out he had … Keep Reading!!!
It seems everyone and their mother has a blog these days. Some people love that and some people hate the abundance of blogs on the internet. I personally think it is great. I don’t understand why anyone that blogs thinks they have some kind of set claim on the blogging world. A blog is a personal website, anyone can (and should) have one if they want.
Blogs serve so many purposes. It is interesting to me to see how … Keep Reading!!!
