Today we took the boys to Abalone Cove to view their tidepools (best ever!) We soon learned this area is also an unofficial nude beach. It was a bit cold, so we didn’t stumble across any lawbreakers. However, there was a woman breastfeeding her baby under this sign. I didn’t want to bother her for a photo, even though it would have been an awesome shot.… Keep Reading!!!
Here is our first featured dad of the “Real Men of Attachment Parenting” series!
His wife, Allison, writes a blog. She had this to say about her “Real Man of Attachment Parenting”:
“This is my husband Mogens with our daughter Elisa Alice. My daughter was probably three months in the picture, but she is 8 1/2 months now. Obviously, this is not his regular workout routine, but he’s a baby wearing, proud AP papa! He’s so amazingly … Keep Reading!!!
I am so excited to announce our weekly series “The Real Men of AP”.
However, we wanted to give “AP Ryan Gosling” a little competition: the real dads of the attachment parenting community.
Once a week, we will post a photo with a short bio of the man behind the photo. They will all be real AP dads doing … Keep Reading!!!
“Year’s end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.”
HLN invited me to write an article about the lessons I’ve learned this past year: http://www.hlntv.com/article/2012/12/31/time-magazine-breastfeeding-cover-jamie-grumet
Some other lessons I’ve taken from 2012:

And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? How do you read?” And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your
This past week, my mom got my boys hooked on I Love Lucy. I’ve seen every episode, but it has been years since I’ve watched the show. I think what struck me about the show is that it is clear it is very funny, but the underlying differences in culture prove that not much has changed. It seems we are a bit more muted in outwardly showing specific views (like sexism), but it is still there.

I receive a lot of really wonderful and relevant questions that I realize I am going to have to start asking other mothers to give their input and wisdom, because I don’t think I have enough experience with any of these topics to give advice.
I’m going to address three of the most common questions I am asked so that I can explain why may not be much help to others…

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
I wanted to end with my favorite verses from O Holy Night.
“Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.

1 – Love God (everything)

Love everything and everyone.
How do we follow this seemingly impossible directive?
In any given moment, in any possible situation
we always are faced with just two courses of action:
1 – to give love
2 – to withhold love
Knowing human nature, it’s unrealistic to
In the US, this holiday season has been overshadowed by something so horrific that it cannot be put into words.
I would like to list a few resources. It is important to remember everyone grieves differently, and it is problematic to put expectations on our children or other members of our family.
For a resource for understanding child grief at various stages please read Grief and Bereavement in Children, by Robin Fiorelli.

Some of you may have heard of RickRolling:

“Rickrolling is a bait-and-switch practice that involves providing a web link supposedly relevant to the topic at hand, but actually re-directs the viewer to Rick Astley’s 1987 hit single “Never Gonna Give You Up.” The URL is often masked or obfuscated as a randomly-generated shortlink to conceal its true source from the experienced users. Whenever someone clicks the link and unintentionally summons Rick Astley’s song, he or she is said
Hope to lift everyone’s spirits today with a happy story.
This just happened in Ethiopia.
These photos were taken at the Haile Resort in Awassa prior to the long (and bumpy) road to Argisa. Haile is located on the other side of Lake Awassa from Sister Donna. The lake water is just as dangerous to drink here as it is where she lives. As you can see, it is no longer a problem:
