Being mother is not an easy job, as you have to take on many responsibilities and learn new things. What if you were paid for this role? An online services marketplace, Bidvine carried out an interesting survey to calculate the yearly income of mothers if they were financially rewarded for the job of being a mom. The estimate came up to £83,427 a year, which is really huge.
Bidivine built an online calculator for UK mothers, which would help them calculate their earnings.
Bidvine asked 1,200 British mothers how many hours they spend daily on household activities. The results revealed normally mothers spend about 4 hours for cleaning, 2 hours for cooking and about an hour for washing. Besides these daily tasks, they also had to look after their children 24 hours a day, which makes it quite a stressful job.
About 44% families who participated in the study had a tame animal and 2/3 of mothers from these families had to take care of the animal too. Pet related duties involved feeding the animal, bathing it and taking it for a walk.
The results also disclosed that 74% mothers felt they accomplished majority of the household tasks, and 67% took full accountability for their kids.
Bidvine is an online services platform with the mission to assist people in finding professionals without wasting their time. The local professionals include tutors, electricians, builders, personal trainers among many others. There are hundreds of service providers offering these services on their site. Bidvine used internal data to calculate the hourly charges of different household activities carried out by mothers daily. The hourly rates were then converted to average daily rate by Bidvine’s experts. The daily charges were finally converted into the yearly income. The £83,427 per annum salary is more than the salary of some good paid jobs like retail managers, pilots and lawyers.
Russ Morgan, co-founder of Bidvine said that the survey was conducted with reference to Mother’s Day, to accentuate the fact that mothers have to work very hard. An online calculator was also built for British mothers for fun.
