The mother of three-year-old Cayden, who was the victim of a barrage of racist facebook comments recently, has reached out on Facebook to set the record straight about her son.
The three-year-old’s grandmother, Susan Hardy, is also speaking out and tells Atlanta Blackstar that while a lot of people were supportive, the two have also received a lot of hatred.
All this hate came about. And now my daughter and my grandson are across the nation. He put not only Cayden but Sydney in danger by posting Cayden.
Susan goes into mama-bear mode and fiercly defends her daughter and grandson.
He’s my grandson. He’s not deaf, he’s not mute, he’s not abandoned. His mother reads to him, and they go over the ABCs, so when we hear things like deaf, dumb and abandoned, our hearts are broken. It has been heartaching that my child and grandchild have to go through such hate, and for an innocent child
While the photo has gone viral over the last few days it seems the incident actually occurred in mid-September and Geris returned to work, acting like nothing had happened for almost a fortnight before the post was discovered and he was let go.
It makes you feel good to know your boss has your back, even though he couldn’t do anything to prevent it.
It is not just her employer that has her back. The outpouring of support online has been incredible and has opened so many eyes to the racism still existing in our world. Now is the time for change.
