Cape Town: More Quarters Review

I wasn’t sure what to expect when we arrived in Cape Town. Many people have told me it is their favorite city in the world, but there were others, (who maybe have never visited) who were telling us how dangerous the city was and that we needed to be very careful.

When we landed, I was surprised how much Cape Town looked like various parts of California. I saw Big Sur, Santa Barbara, Napa, and other beautiful areas of my state within the geographical traits of this city. It seemed familiar and beautiful.

We drove through the city and ended up heading down a tiny street where we saw More Quarters. Out of all of the places we were staying on our trip, this was the one place we were not sure would work with kids. We thought it would come across more as a boutique hotel catering to couples and be less child friendly. Well, we were wrong.

I felt like it was a combination of a 5-star resort and a boutique hotel. We were given a 2-bedroom apartment with a fully functional stocked kitchen as well as the option to order room service. They went out of their way to make the place fun for the kids. The boys’ room was filled with fun robes, toys, and special packs of candy. They left us a personal note at the lodge prior to our arrival.

Part of our group was staying at the Redcliffe House, which is also part of More Quarters. Brian went to go visit his parents there (we were thinking they probably got the lesser of the rooms). Brian came back and said, “You need to go check out the mansion my parents are staying in!” I thought he was joking because the street we were staying on was very small and unassuming. There seemed to be no room even for a small house there.

As soon as I walked over I was completely shocked by the size and structure of the house. It truly was amazing…

Gigantic kitchen. (Although room service is still 100% available for the house.)

Once again, Brian was right. The house was beautiful. We decided to have dinner two nights of our stay at this house. I remember looking around the table at all of our friends sitting in this beautiful home in a city so far away from where we all live, and it was the first time on the trip I was able to take a step back and look at where we were and realize how special this trip really was.

Thank you again to More Hotels and Destination Southern Africa for helping our family create memories we are going to remember for the rest of our lives.
