When you have a growing family, the bills and money that you pay out seem to be never ending. There are always different things to pay for, from a school trip to a new pair of shoes to haircuts and diapers. There is always something! So if there are ways to pay less for the must-have items, then why not? Some things are optional, of course, but the grocery bill and clothing are non-negotiables, right? Here are some easy ways to save money on the things that you need to buy. I hope that you find it helpful!
Shop For Coupons
I know that some people can get into couponing in a big way. But if you get too into it, then you are only buying things that you have coupons for, whether you need them or not! So I think it is better to be a little more selective about the coupons that you choose. Look for them in stores and in magazines. It is a good idea to cut them out and then file them in a notebook, by use by dates. You don’t want to go to use one and find that it is out of date. You can also find some online that you can print out and use in the grocery store. So that is certainly worth looking into too.
Look in Thrift Stores
Thrift stores are fun to shop in. Sometimes they will have just the things that you are after. Sometimes they won’t. But when it comes to things like kids clothing or a fancy dress costume, for example, then it can be a really good idea. You might need some time to wade through it all, but you can find some bargains. The same goes for furniture and accessories. Is there something there that you could paint and update? There is no need to pay more unless you have to.
Shop Online
You can buy pretty much anything that you need online these days. There is also some extra protection when it comes to buying online than you’d get in a store, especially if you use a credit card. So it has to be worth a look. You can find discounts online that you wouldn’t get in store, so for things like shoes and clothing, it is a good idea. You can even find things like a Mac and Mia coupon code if you want someone else to do all of the searching for you. So it is always worth checking if you can get a better deal online, before buying in the store.
Upcycle
For things like hand me down clothes or older furniture, sometimes you don’t need to just throw it all away. You can still get use out of older pieces with a little bit of love. A chest of drawers might just need to be sanded down and have a lick of paint. Clothing could be repaired with patches or made into something else (like a pair of jeans into a jean skirt, for example).
