A Michigan mom walked into a Tim Horton’s coffee shop to buy coffee and donuts, with her daughter in tow. It was then that two women in line behind her started mocking her weight and appearance.
“Oh look at her hair, it’s nasty looking and the roots are coming through,” and “Oh she’s a whale, oh the whale needs to eat.”
Even though it hurt her to hear those comments, especially after a 177 lbs weight loss, Dianne Hoffmeyer decided to take the opposite approach and paid for the women’s coffee.
I instantly started to cry, because it hurts. I don’t know the women. I don’t know why they would choose to say something like that.
She says she did it because she wants her daughter to see there is good in the world. She even would love for the women to reach out to her so she can buy them another cup and explain how it made her feel to hear those comments.
As the old adage goes, kill them with kindness. Dianne’s act is sure to inspire many others, but most importantly to her, she hopes it inspires her daughter.
