In this experiment, a black man who said he moved to Lithuania just two weeks ago asks for help translating a racist message he received on Facebook.
More from the creator:
It is a video experiment dedicated to promote our newly launched web site www.svetimegeda.lt (in Lithuanian only). The web site is a digital “handbook”, full of advices on how we all can prevent racial abuse and hate speech online, in mass media, on streets, at schools, work, etc.
The experiment was made like this. We invited random people (not professional actors) to participate in a casting for an ad. In advance, we gave no specifics on what the ad is going to be about. When they had arrived, we asked them to wait a second in our waiting room. They had no clue the waiting room was fake, and we were filming them already there with our hidden cameras. What happened next – watch in the video (in English).
What do you think? Will these kind of experiments help create a discussion related to how we can prevent hate speech online?
