While getting dumped by your fiancé five days before your wedding would get most people down, not Shelby Swink. For Shelby there would be no pity party, no time to re-think a situation that was out of her control. Instead the women that just 6 days earlier was set to marry the love of her life decided to let it all go in grand fashion!
With the support of her friends and family, Shelby set out to take the black and white memory of a what was and transform in into a more color filled tomorrow. Shelby decided to set up the shoot and thanks to her friend Carolyn, Shelby didn’t even wait for the photographer to say “go…”, the paint was already flying.
“The moment the paint hit my dress… I was free. All the disappointment, all the hurt… I just felt it leave me. I can’t even describe how liberating and cathartic the experience was for me. I let go of all the hurt and became myself again.” Shelby writes in her original post on Offbeat bride.
And the question we are all asking our selves; if Shelby could say anything else to her ex, what would it be?
“Thank you for sparing me greater pain and loss down the road. Thank you for pushing me to realize my own strength. Thank you for teaching me that no one can take away my happiness. Thank you for letting me go so I can one day experience true reciprocated love. THANK YOU!”
