Jimani Collections

Written by:  Jamie

Recently, I announced over social media that I am looking for ethical companies to promote. The reason is simple enough: I am sick of sweat shops and I want to support small, ethical businesses. However, I have found it difficult to find affordable clothing, accessories, and household products that are ethically created.

During my initial search I found that these companies do exist, but they are just exhausting to find. That is why I want to provide a resource that we all can use. The fun part of this is that almost all of the companies I have reached out to have jumped at the chance of giving discounts and giveaways to our audience.

And that is why, as we build this database, you can benefit from our new endeavor in multiple ways.

So without further ado, here is out first brand:

Jimani

JCJimani Collections works with women in Kenya to create jewelry out of upcycled materials. It’s important to remember that this brand, and brands like this, are not non-profit organizations. BUT that is a positive aspect of the company. The women working for Jimani are skilled in their trade, not charity cases. What we DO want to make sure is that the company offers to pay their workers fair (or more than fair) wages for the work they put in. Jimani Collections definitely does this. In addition, they offer a training program to create a safe workplace for women, create sustainable community support, and have apprenticeships to train up new workers.
The pieces generally hover around the $30 range, which makes the fashion jewelry more on the affordable side.

I have the Tatu triangle bone necklace and the Luna blue ceramic necklace. I have a lot of jewelry, but I’ve found myself wearing these pieces the most out of all my causal pieces. They are easy and sort of go with everything. Plus, I love long necklaces (Tatu) and adjustable necklaces (Luna).

Jimani is offering our readers a 30% discount if you use the code BABYSITTER30

And…

We are also making this a giveaway! One person will win the Luna Necklace (pictured on be below and in the featured image of this post).
