How to Organize a Baby Shower

Written by:  Rex

Hey there! So, you’re in charge of organizing a baby shower, huh? Well, congratulations! Baby showers are a great way to celebrate the impending arrival of a little bundle of joy and to show the mom-to-be how much she is loved and supported. However, organizing a baby shower can also be a bit daunting, especially if you’re not sure where to start. Don’t worry though, because I’ve got your back!

In this article, we’ll go through all the steps you need to take to organize a baby shower that everyone will love. We’ll cover everything from planning the shower to the day of the event. By the time you finish reading, you’ll be ready to throw the most awesome baby shower ever!

Planning the Baby Shower

Alright, let’s start planning this baby shower! Before we get into the nitty-gritty details, there are a few things you’ll need to consider to get started.

First things first, you’ll need to determine your budget. Baby showers can be as simple or as elaborate as you want them to be, and your budget will play a big role in what you can do. Once you’ve set your budget, you can start making decisions about the guest list, location, and decorations.

When it comes to the guest list, make sure to consult with the mom-to-be to make sure you don’t miss anyone important. Consider whether the shower will be co-ed or women-only and whether children will be invited. Once you have your guest list, you can start thinking about a location. A lot of baby showers are held in someone’s home, but if that’s not an option, you can consider a community center, park, or restaurant.

Now that you have a date, time, and location, it’s time to think about the theme and decorations. The theme can be anything from a specific color scheme to a favorite children’s book or character. Whatever you choose, make sure it reflects the mom-to-be’s personality and style. You can also use the theme to guide your choice of decorations, such as balloons, streamers, and centerpieces.

Finally, let’s talk about food and drink. Finger foods and light snacks are always a hit at baby showers, and you can also consider a cake or cupcakes to celebrate the occasion. For drinks, consider offering both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, such as sparkling water, lemonade, or a signature mocktail.

With these basics in mind, you’re well on your way to planning a fantastic baby shower! In the next section, we’ll talk about invitations and RSVPs.

Invitations and RSVPs

Now that you’ve got the basics of the baby shower planned, it’s time to get the word out! Invitations are a crucial part of any baby shower, as they set the tone for the event and provide guests with all the important details they need to know.

When it comes to baby shower invites, you have a few options. You can purchase pre-made invitations at a party supply store, order custom invitations online, or even make your own! Whatever you choose, make sure the invitations include all the necessary information, such as the date, time, location, and RSVP instructions.

Speaking of RSVPs, it’s important to decide how you want guests to respond. You can include a phone number or email address for guests to contact, or use an online RSVP system. Whatever you choose, make sure to include a deadline for responses so you can get an accurate headcount for planning purposes.

It’s also a good idea to follow up with guests who haven’t responded by the deadline. A quick phone call or email can make all the difference in ensuring a successful event.

One final note on invitations – be sure to consider the mom-to-be’s wishes when it comes to who is invited. Some expecting moms prefer a small, intimate gathering, while others may want to invite a large group of friends and family. Make sure you have a clear understanding of her expectations before sending out invitations.

With the invitations and RSVPs taken care of, it’s time to move on to planning the activities and games for the baby shower.

Activities and Games

No baby shower is complete without a few fun activities and games! These can help break the ice, keep guests entertained, and add an element of excitement to the event. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  1. Diaper Duty – This game is a classic for a reason! Buy several different types of candy bars and melt them in diapers, then have guests try to guess which candy bar is in each diaper by smelling and looking at it. The person with the most correct guesses wins a prize.
  2. Baby Name Game – Print out a list of popular baby names and have guests race to come up with a famous person with each name. The person with the most correct answers wins.
  3. Onesie Decorating – Buy a bunch of plain white onesies and some fabric markers, and have guests decorate them for the new baby. This is a great activity for guests who aren’t as interested in games or who prefer a more creative outlet.
  4. Guess the Baby Food – Remove the labels from several jars of baby food and have guests taste-test them to try to guess the flavor. The person with the most correct guesses wins.
  5. Baby Photo Bingo – Before the shower, ask each guest to bring a baby photo of themselves. Create bingo cards with the guests’ names and baby photos, and have guests mark off the squares as each person’s photo is revealed. The first person to get bingo wins.

These are just a few ideas – there are plenty of other games and activities out there to choose from! And don’t forget to provide prizes or favors for the winners, such as small gift cards, candles, or personalized mementos.
