Fun Things to Do In San Francisco

Written by:  Rex

Changing your environment once in a while can be therapeutic. Some people travel for adventure, and some are looking to experience different cultures, enjoy new cuisine, and meet new people. You don’t always have to go outside the United States to have a life-changing experience. You would be surprised by how much fun you can have in a city like San Francisco. From the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, and riding in the historic cable cars as well as Pier 39 museum to explore. San Francisco has a lot of fun activities to do, including those mentioned below.

1. Golden Gate Bridge

The Golden Gate Bridge has been there since 1937. The bridge connects the city to Marin County. The bridge is the most photographed site in America. Whether it is under the clear blue skies or covered in fog, the bridge will still look amazing. Pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers are allowed to use the bridge on their designated pathways full time except for walkers who cannot pass after 6.30. You can even go on a bike tour and explore San Francisco with a local guide. While going across the iconic structure, you will enjoy the beautiful views of nature, cityscapes, and the water from different vantage points.

2. Alcatraz Island

Alcatraz Island is known to have been home to the most notorious jail, the Alcatraz Prison. The Alcatraz Prison was home to some 1,570 or so prisoners during its 30 years of existence. After being opened to the public as a historical site, it has become one of the most visited locations by tourists. As you cross over to the island for the tour, you will be guided by a recorded audio throughout the journey. It is said that some of the former inmates and guards recorded the audio to give visitors a real experience.

3. Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf

Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39 should not miss on your San Francisco bucket list. If you like sea lions, then Pier 39 is the place to visit. Sea lions have been a popular tourist attraction at the pier for 30 years. Around the same area, you will also enjoy the most exquisite seafood. Pier 39 Museums such as the museum of 3D illusions, Madame Tussauds wax museum, Musee Mecanique, and Ripley’s Believe it or not are also some popular tourist destinations in Fisherman’s Wharf and Pier 39. You can catch a cruise and go sightseeing or visit the San Francisco Maritime National historical park. There are lots of exciting activities here. You will have to come back to finish them all.

4. Golden Gate Park

The Golden Gate Park is located in the heart of San Francisco. The area was once filled with arid dunes. Today it is home to Steinhart Aquarium, the San Francisco Botanical Garden, Japanese Tea Garden, de Young Museum, among other tourist destinations. It is advisable to hire a bike and cycle through this green haven of thousands of plants and trees.

San Francisco is a vacation destination that you will never forget. The cultural, historical, and entertaining experience that you will get here can not be compared to many.
