Does eating yogurt lower the risk of cardiovascular disease?

Written by:  Jamie

Recent studies suggest that consuming yogurt on a regular basis can offer you many health benefits. The Nurses’ Health Study suggests that higher yogurt intake can be linked with a 16 percent lower risk of developing cardiovascular disease in women.

The study was performed on 55,000 female patients from the United States, whose ages were between 40 and 75. It goes without saying that there are considerable variations when it comes to the frequency and complications of such cardiovascular conditions in seniors compared to the same indications in adult women. However, the facts do not lie. People who consume more than two yogurt servings on a weekly basis have a 20 percent lower risk of developing major coronary heart disease or strokes.

So, in a nutshell, the answer to the question that can be found in the title of this article is that yes, yogurt can, without a doubt, have a beneficial effect on a human’s cardiovascular system, and on women’s heart health, even more so.

Let’s see what other type of benefits yogurt can offer you.

It’s loaded with vitamins and minerals

One of the most important reasons you should consider eating more yogurt is that it contains healthy doses of calcium, potassium, and magnesium, as well as vitamins B6 and B12.

What this means for you is that you will not have to take supplements to which all sorts of chemicals or preservatives have been added, and that can, to a certain extent neutralize the vitamins’ positive effects. You’ll get all you require from a healthy drink that you can even make at home if you own an electronic yogurt maker.

It might prevent osteoporosis

It goes without saying that preventing osteoporosis is quite tricky, but the fact is that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, as Benjamin Franklin used to say. Women especially are affected by this condition, and its manifestations can be rather painful. Once installed, you cannot get rid of it. It is a chronic ailment that affects hundreds of thousands of people every year.

So, if there is any chance that eating yogurt regularly might be able to prevent the disease, you should definitely do it.

It’s been linked to weight loss

Apparently, if you want to lose weight and make it a consistent thing, you need to eat yogurt every day. Many people are under the wrong impression that they have to starve themselves in order to shed some pounds. In fact, doing so is one of the worst ideas ever — and that’s because your metabolism will be ruined and your body will lose important nutrients and eventually, you’ll end up binging on a Saturday night with your friends.

Yogurt is nutritious and packed with essential nutrients and amino acids that your body requires in order to function properly. You’ll be able to feel fuller and more satisfied if you consume a glass every day. On top of that, yogurt has a lot of protein, which is why it will provide you with the fuel you might need to exercise.
