Samuel: Mommy, what do eggs have to do with Jesus’ resurrection?
Me: Nothing, it relates more to Spring Equinox.
Aram: Spring what?
Me: Equinox – The day in spring when day and night are supposed to be equal. (And here comes thought throw-up)…. Well, actually I don’t really true because of atmospheric refraction, but I do think some pagan celebrations like to use the idea of balance.
Boys: ….
Me: Really all you need to know is that there is a moment in the day that the sun passes over the celestial equator.
Boys: ….
Me: You know the equator… Well the celestial equator is a bigger line in the same spot leading up to the solar terminator… I think….
Boys….
Me: You know that inside the earth’s atmosphere it looks sunny and blue during the day, but past that point it turns into dark space? That imaginary line is the solar terminator!… I think…. So we are really talking about two imaginary lines.
Boys…
Me: Anyway, Spring Equinox is related to Easter and what day it falls on. Actually, Eastern and Western Christian churches follow it differently AND have two different calendars, so there normally two Easter celebrations every spring… except this year! This year, the Eastern and Western Church Easter date fall on the same day! Isn’t that exciting!!?
Samuel: What does this have to do with eggs?
Aram: Samuel, poor mommy doesn’t know. She just talks a lot.
