Prosthetic allows girl to dance on point again

Written by:  Jamie

Gabi Shull was just nine-years-old when she was diagnosed with cancer in her right knee. In order to save her life, doctors were left with no choice but to amputate her leg. They removed her knee and then reattached her foot backwards in order to give her the best chance of walking comfortably in a prosthetic.

The tiny dancer recovered, but she was left with a decreased ability to dance en point for her ballet classes. Things seemed hopeless on this front, until a custom prosthetic was designed specifically for Gabi and her needs. The new prosthetic slips over her leg andresponds to her prosthetic and acts as her knee when her ankle is flexed.

Gabi is now fourteen-years-old and is an avid ballet dancer and cheerleader thanks to will to overcome such a challenge at a young age, and also because of the the amazing people who designed her new prosthetic for unique needs.
