I just want to start off this post by saying a big thank you to Jamie, for really believing in this project and being the very first person to help write about the project and share it. The last 3 weeks have been crazy and I am so encouraged and humbled by the outpouring of support so many around the world have shown me. Thank you all.
I am now introducing a new series to the Project: BreastFeeding photos, it is a topic that many don’t realize is an option anymore or really are not too sure how they feel about it. To be honest, I wasn’t sure how to feel about the subject either and I knew it would be even harder for my wife to maybe accept at first. Cross nursing and wet nursing is something that women have done since the beginning of time. My own Great-Grandmother was a wet nurse at an orphanage in Mexico, her job was to feed babies that were abandoned at the orphanage. She really was an amazing woman and she loved children, but she wasn’t the first to do it and she definitely will not be the last. In my family’s breastfeeding journey we have had some ups and downs, there are times when it has been difficult and the idea of switching to formula sounds enticing. I know how that feels, we have all been there at some point, but my wife and were lucky in that we had friends and family that were willing to step up and help us continue and not give up. This series is dedicated to all those moms who have wet nursed or had friends or family wet nurse for them. YOU. ARE. AMAZING. Thank you.
