Claims:
Acne regimen created to clear existing acne and prevent future breakouts by…
1. Cleansing dirt, oil, makeup, and bacteria which can trigger and worsen acne.
2. Clearogen Clarifying Toner uses botanicals and a low percentage of salicylic acid to eliminate pore-clogging impurities while reducing redness and irritation. Botanical extracts support natural cell turnover for smoother skin.
3. Clearogen Acne Lotion uses a low percentage of time released benzoyl peroxide to kill bacteria and clear blemishes while botanicals reduce DHT (dihydrotestosterone) in the oil gland and regulate oil production, the root cause of acne. Like many women, I have been struggling with adult acne. It wasn’t until my dermatologist and endocrinologist suggested that I may have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) that I saw a light at the end of proverbial acne tunnel (and it was a dark place down there). PCOS is extremely common, and it presents differently for everyone, but a common symptom of the fairly common condition is cystic acne. This is due to the elevated androgen levels. Even women without PCOS can have adult acne with mildly elevated androgen levels. And this is part of the reason that I think Clearogen works so well. There are natural ingredients such as Saw Palmetto that can be taken internally to lower androgen levels, and this sort of botanical treatment is applied topically in the lotion. However, don’t be confused that this is an “all natural” or “organic” product. If that is what you’re looking for, this isn’t for you. What it does seem to do is take into account both eastern and western effective acne treatments, and pinpoint the underlying cause of acne, to treat the condition topically.
For me, I’ve noticed that this product can seem a bit drying if used every day. I am afraid that it will damage my lipid level of my skin if I allow my skin to dry out, so I use it every other day or every two days and wash with raw Coconut Butter (not oil, butter) on the jawline and a mild cleanser all over on the “off” days. This has kept my skin the clearest it has been in years.
Pros– effective and easy to use.
Cons– slightly drying.
Rating: 8 out of 10 lipsticks.
