Cleaning Your Home With Natural Products

Written by:  Jamie

All of us have a responsibility, not only to ourselves, but to our beloved ones as well. Even though we tend to look away from the facts, there has to come a time when we accept them, no matter how much trouble they end up producing. We know that it is almost impossible to avoid being exposed to toxic and extremely hazardous substances, for they are everywhere we look, touch our smell. However, there are certain things that are in our power to change, and they do not exude a lot of effort to be changed. Most of the cleaning ingredients we are used to using in our cleaning routines are made from chemicals we are not supposed to be exposed to. Luckily, there are a myriad of quality substitutes that should be used instead. Here, we will present you with just some of them, but it is up to you to continue searching for other alternatives that are equally effective, and most importantly, even less dangerous.

Frankly, you can go a long way by relying on just a few natural ingredients that are fascinatingly multifunctional and effective. Our advice would be to give white vinegar, baking soda, lemon, natural salt and essential oils, a chance, because we know you will not end up being disappointed.

1 WHITE VINEGAR

If were to pick a champion out of all of the aforementioned ingredients, white vinegar might just be the one. We kid you not when we say that absolutely every room in your house can somehow be sorted out by white vinegar. Let us give you just a few examples. In the kitchen, you can use it for practically anything. If your drain gets clogged up, a mixture of baking soda and vinegar will do the trick. Cutting boards? No problem. You can even clean your microwave with a mixture of distilled water from Golyath and white vinegar. Make the mixture in a glass bowl and put in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. After that, leave the mixture to rest for 5 minutes, because the steam will do the job for you. When the time passes, wipe the inside of the microwave with a dry cloth.

2 BAKING SODA

Well, when we said that white vinegar is the champion, it is actually a very close race between it and baking soda. This one is so incredibly efficient! When we say it has its purpose in the toilet as well as on your carpet, we are not joking. One the fastest ways to deal with your toilet bowl is to drop some baking soda directly into it, and subsequently pour some white vinegar as well. When the fuzz drops down, do a little bit of scrubbing and afterwards flush. It could not be simpler than that. When it comes to cleaning carpets, if you end up staining them somehow, do not worry. Sprinkle some baking soda over the stain and let it rest for an hour or so. When you get back to it, the baking soda will have absorbed the stain, and all that is going to be left for you to do, is to vacuum it.

3 NATURAL SALT

We may have made a mistake when we tried to nominate a champion. All of these products are champions. Salt also has a lot of cleaning purposes around the house, but it is so amazingly effective when it comes to staining. We all know that wine stains are a tough nut to crack. However, next time when someone spills some wine on your tablecloth or carpet, piling a lot of salt over it will do a fabulous job of absorbing the moisture. We do not think it is necessary to point out that salt can be used for de-icing of driveways and sidewalks. That is something that has been done for ages!

4 LEMON

Lemon juice can be used for freshening up as well as cleaning. Next time you decide to wash your windows, make a mixture of water and lemon juice, it works like a charm. In case you did not know, combination of salt and lemon juice is the most adequate solution for cleaning your cutting boards. Sprinkle some salt over the board, than use you half chopped lemon for scrubbing the board down. After you are done, rinse it with water. Job done. You can use lemon juice for cleaning your microwave in the same way you would use white vinegar. If case you want to remove unpleasant odors and stains from your plastic food containers, just dip them in diluted lemon juice.

5 ESSENTIAL OILS

It makes a huge difference when our homes are kept fragrant, and using essential oils is the best way to go in order to keep them like that. There are a lot of different scents to choose from, but some have additional purposes besides from being nice-smelling. Adding lemon essential oil to your homemade cleaners helps with stain removal, and adding it to your laundry detergent can help brighten white garments. Peppermint essential oil is brilliant when it comes to antibacterial purposes. So, next time you clean your kitchen and bathroom, make sure you add some of it to your cleaners. Tea tree essential oils mixed with water make awesome cleaning sprays because they have strong antiseptic, antibacterial and antifungal purposes.

We hope that we have shown you how simple it can be to make small changes in your daily routines that leave a great impact not only on your household, but on your health as well. If you have found our words to be useful, and you feel motivated to further experiment with this approach to cleaning, we strongly support you. It would not be foolish, by any means, to hire an expert in this area, who can help you become even more educated and prepared for the cleanliness journey that lies ahead.
