Breastfeeding in Vietnam: focusing on education and evidence-based advice.
FHI 360’s Alive & Thrive project, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, has the goal of providing high-quality nutrition consultation services. Their services are specifically applied to infant and young-child feeding counseling services. Counseling focuses on advising exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life, while slowly introducing appropriate complimentary foods at six months and continuing to breastfeed to two years and beyond (which significantly reduces stunted growth, a problem in the area).  Nearly 800 FHI 360’s Alive & Thrive project franchise offices have been set up in government health facilities throughout Vietnam.
