Refugees during the (seemingly still ongoing) Kivu conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo fled to displacement camps such as this one (Bulengo).

In this photo, 22 year old Mukafoina is breastfeeding her 33 year old sister’s two daughters, as her sister, Rezpia, lies dying of cholera.

Some reading this may feel compelled to take action. Consider making a donation to Action Kivu, which provides the Democratic Republic of Congo’s victims of violence with the opportunity to rebuild their lives on a foundation of hope, dignity, and economic self-sustenance.
