Beyonce Talks Breastfeeding, Sexuality, and Body Image

In part 4 of the mini BTS featurettes being released to promote Beyonce’s new self-titled album and videos, Beyonce explores her thoughts on breastfeeding, sexuality, and body image.

I thought a lot of what she said was interesting. I don’t necessarily agree with her views on “getting your body back” after baby, but the thoughts about the importance of embracing your sexuality and your individuality after you become a mother were spot on.

I also thought the picture she painted of being a new mother and having less work and “me” time during the recording of her album was relatable. There are times when life isn’t glamorous and those moments in life, like when a new child is born, are challenging and it feels like this part of life is going to be forever. Truly, those moments are so fleeting, and I think it is a nice reminder not only of that, but that sometimes our greatest time of creativity and self-reflection comes during those humble stages in life. There are moments when life is unglamorous, and trying, and when it comes down to it, we are almost completely unfocused on one’s self, which is probably unhealthy to endure for an entire life, but extremely important and beneficial to our overall well-being, in small doses.

Watch the video and let me know your thoughts.
