Artist Annette Thas recently flew home to Belgium to visit her sister, who had taken ill. It was there that positive memories of her childhood came flooding back.
Thas wanted to channel her emotion into an art piece.
Thas opted to use Barbie in her art creation, because the toy is a “universal icon” that most people recognize.
Thas ended up creating a 13 foot wave-shaped sculpture by the sea in Perth, Australia, using thousands of Barbie dolls to achieve a bizarre, yet interesting, monochromatic look.
