Kindergarten teacher Sonya Romero from Lew Wallace Elementary School recently was invited on The Ellen Show after producers learned about the amazing work she has done (and continues to do) in her classroom.
Ellen started with a simple question:
I was expecting for Romero to answer with something philosophical or inspiring, but her actual answer was so poignant and practical that it stunned and overwhelmed me:
The teacher also explained how she had taken in two students as foster children after the social worker could not find emergency temporary placement. Even though Romero agreed to the temporary emergency placement, she stayed on as their full-time foster mother. The children have now been living with her and her son for six months.
