7 Ways to Get Your Body Confidence Back After Baby

Written by:  Jamie

The birth of a child is a major step stone in a parent’s life. If you’ve recently given birth as a mom, you also know the toll that it can take on your body. Although you shouldn’t be in any rush to get your body back to the state you were in before pregnancy, there are some things you can do to boost your body confidence.

Start a Morning Routine

Your body hasn’t been your own for the past 9 months. Although you’ve probably been conscious of doing things to take care of your body before conception, there are things that you can do for yourself after your baby is born. Whether you’re heading into work or you plan on staying home for the day with your newborn, you want to start a morning routine. In order to feel better about yourself, ask your partner to watch the baby, so you can shower and put yourself together. You’ll be amazed at how such a simple task can set a positive tone for the remainder of the day.

Seek the Help of the Experts

Your primary focus after the birth of your child should be on bonding. Although you may feel despondent over your wobbly belly and sagging breasts, you need to give your body time to heal both mentally and physically. But after you’ve had sufficient time to recover, you may need to seek the help of the experts in getting your body confidence back. Breast revision surgery offers a youthful appearance and contour to tissue that may have become stretched during pregnancy. You can also increase or decrease the size of your breasts during the augmentation. If you’re breasts have become lopsided or uneven, the procedure can also boost the symmetry.

Hit the Gym

There’s nothing that improves your body confidence more than a good workout. Whether it’s from the feel good endorphins or your ability to shed pounds and see the results, find activities that you enjoy doing most. If you stopped working out during the latter part of your pregnancy, classes such as yoga, Pilates and Zumba are excellent ways to ease back into exercising.

Embrace Your Curves

Your body has been through a lot before, during and after your pregnancy. No matter what your age, you may not be able to get back to your starting weight. Instead of worrying about a number, toss the scale and focus on how you feel. Simple things such as breast feeding and chasing after little ones can burn a significant number of calories. While you may be tempted to wear your maternity clothes after the birth of your baby, embrace your curves and splurge on a couple of new outfits that make you feel good.

Pamper Yourself

You may wonder how a different hairstyle can improve your body confidence. But finding a hairstyle that’s easy to prep daily and still looks stylish can make you feel like a million bucks. If you typically color your hair, add a few highlights to break out of your new mommy doldrums. A Swedish or deep tissue massage will help improve the appearance of your skin. It can also alleviate knots and tension caused by carrying your new bundle of joy.

Think Sexy

A sweatshirt dotted with baby spit-up may not help improve your body confidence. But if you’re looking to get your sexy back, start thinking suggestive thoughts. If you need some added inspiration in the romance department, find a sexy or romantic move. Other things such as a warm bath, candles and essential oils can help set the mood.

Take a Break

Just because you take an occasional break from feeding your infant doesn’t mean you won’t win the mom of the year award. If you’re looking to improve your body image, spend quality time alone in search of yourself. This can include activities such as lunch with friends, reading a book in a spare room or retail therapy.

Your body may be far from your pre-pregnancy weight. But that doesn’t mean you should feel like a failure. Giving birth is one of the greatest experiences, and you should enjoy the rewards that come with this great accomplishment. With the above tips, you’ll be able ignite your inner flame and boost your body confidence after the birth of your child.
