5 Reasons Why Renting A Car Is A Great Idea For Post Pandemic Travel

Written by:  Rex

After spending so many months in lockdown, seeing the same things, admiring the same landscapes and talking to the same people, most of us can’t help but let our minds wander freely expecting to be somewhere else. Nobody can’t blame us after all! However,  the truth is that, despite many countries and states are slowly lifting up their travel restrictions, it’s still a long time before we can explore the world around us freely. In fact, not even travel companies are sure yet about what travel would be like after Covid-19.

With international travel still limited and plane companies still figuring out how to adapt themselves to the new context, road trips, RVs and car rentals are increasingly attracting travel fans everywhere. Let’s discuss 5 reasons why they can be a great idea for post pandemic travel.

It’s Not Only for Car-Less People

As long as you have a drivers’ license, anybody can rent a car. Even car owners can hire a vehicle for a road trip or business trip! Whether your vehicle is too old, too small, uncomfortable or not reliable enough to endure long periods on the road, a car rental agency can easily provide you with the vehicle you need for a safe and comfortable drive.

It can also be the case that you’ll be away from home for only a couple of days and driving all the way there is not the most convenient idea. You’d rather get to your destination as fast as possible and then take advantage of having a vehicle there to make commuting and moving around much easier.

Whichever the reason, a rental car can be really helpful!

It’s Not That Expensive

Unless you want to hire a limousine, a vehicle with a chauffeur or have a rental car for an insanely long period of time, visiting a rental agency won’t blow off your travel budget. Most companies offer customers highly competitive fees, special promotions to frequent renters, discounts with credit cards that make renting a car something really affordable.

It’s true, however, that agents are trained in sales and will do their best effort to convince you into hiring a larger vehicle or a more modern model that would, of course, increase the rental fees but you don’t have to accept their offer!

One of the things that can definitely increase your travel budget is the car rental damage insurance policy they offer. Agencies are known for charging an arm and a leg for it and if you opt for the coverage provided by your credit card or auto insurance policy you might be surprised to learn that it’s not as good as expected and pricey as well. Fortunately, there are some independent companies that offer insurance coverage for your rental car and supplemental liability insurance at an affordable price and in the most convenient way: online or through an app. You can purchase it before and simply tell the agent about it when the time comes.

It Lets You Live Your Dream

Let’s be honest, not all of us made it to the list of Rich & Famous nor we are proud owners of the vehicle of our dreams. Whether we’ve always wanted to have a sports car, a mini van, an RV or a jeep and all we could afford is an ordinary sedan, renting a car helps you drive the car you’ve always wanted to park in your driveway.

Most rental agencies have a wide assortment of car brands and models to choose from and, unless you’re looking for something very specific there are great chances that you’ll get what you want.

In addition, many drivers consider visiting a car rental agency as a way to test drive the car they want to purchase. You can easily experience how comfortable, fast or spacious a car is or how it adapts to different roads and driving styles and then decide if it is the car you want or need or not. .

It Keeps Your Car Safe

Some car owners are extremely protective of their cars and they don’t want anything bad to happen to them. Whether it’s an old vehicle that can’t stand long drives any longer without the risk of falling apart or a relatively new car that you don’t want to get super dirty on the road so soon, going to a rental agency is a practical way of achieving the piece of mind you need without sacrificing the urge to explore the world.

It Keeps YOU Safe

Post pandemic travel goes hand in hand with keeping social distance. Using public transport for our daily commutes, weekend getaways or holidays will not be an option most of us will feel comfortable with in the foreseeable future. That said, renting a car makes it easier to feed the travel bug in all of us while keeping social distance. Rental agencies sanitize the vehicles thoroughly after each rental period and you only need to remember to sanitize frequently those surface areas in the car that you touch more often, just as you would do with your own car.
