Whether you’re trying to plan a birthday party on a budget or you’re willing to spend your life savings to make your child happy, there are a variety of things you can do that will give your child a birthday party to remember. From giving them a special cake to making the event interactive, here are four ways you can make your child’s birthday stand out and create the party everyone talks about.
- Cake
Everyone knows the birthday cake is the centerpiece to the entire party, so why not make your child’s birthday extra special by giving them a birthday cake they’ll always remember? If you’re even slightly a baker and can make a cake yourself, you can ensure your child will have a cake that is unlike others because it will be made by you. Not only can you look on Pinterest to gather ideas, but you can even invest in an edible printer which uses edible paper and edible ink so you can print whatever you want and turn it into a cake. This is great for those whose kids love a certain person, place or thing that cannot be replicated with a cake pan.
If that sounds like too much work, you can still find something to make on your own using traditional icing. And if you’re not much of a baker, then you can find someone in your neighborhood or contact a local bakery and see what type of special cake they can make for your child. As long as it’s something your child will enjoy, you can rest assured they will be extremely happy to celebrate.
- Theme
Another way to make your child’s birthday extra special is to have a theme for the party and use that to spawn all your ideas. For instance, if your child likes a certain TV show, loves a certain character, or is obsessed with a specific thing, then center your child’s party around it. This will ensure your child absolutely loves his or her birthday party because everywhere they look, they’ll be surrounded by the thing the love almost as much as they love you.
You can print pictures of the item/person and have them hanging all over your house. You can even hang streamers and hang these pictures from the streamers too. Be sure your tablecloths and centerpieces match the color theme of the party too. And if you’re having games at the party, be sure they correlate with the theme as well. All of this will work together to make your child’s party extra special.
- Food
When planning your child’s birthday party, you want to ensure you have enough food for everyone. But coming up with a menu is always one of the most stressful things to do for a party. However, if you want to make your child’s birthday special, then you can make the menu complement the theme of the birthday party. For instance, if your child is having a cowboy/cowgirl themed party, then stick to items like pulled pork sandwiches. If your child is having a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle party, then pizza is the way to go. There’s always a food that will complement a party theme, and by doing this, you will make your life easier. (And if your child is a picky eater, just make sure there’s something there that he or she will enjoy, even if it’s just chicken nuggets or macaroni and cheese.)
- Guests
The best way to ensure your child has a birthday party that he or she doesn’t forget is to invite all of those who your child loves. Surround your child with friends, family members, neighbors and anyone else who has a positive impact on your child. When your child sees all of these people they admire at one place just for them, it will certainly make their day even more special than it already was.
If you have friends or family members who live too far away to attend the party, you can designate a certain time for your child to Facetime or Skype with them so they are still part of the party. If that won’t work, be sure these people send a note to your child so they are still part of the big day.
Your child’s birthday party should be special, and even if you cannot break the bank to make it happen, there are still many ways you can make it extra special.
