Hicksville Union Free School District contains nine public schools with one school for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade, six elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. There is an average of 14 students per classroom at each school. Woodland Avenue School has been given a score of 8 out of 10 making it one of the best schools in Hicksville. The other schools in the area were not too far behind with ratings around a 7 or a 6.

Hicksville High School has received a rating as one of the best public high schools in America. They have a 92 percent average graduation rate with students scoring an average of 1180 on the SAT. Out of the 1705 student population, 96 percent are proficient in reading and 95 percent proficient in math. In the state of New York, they rank as number 57 for sports and number 145 as far as being the best high school.
