In the last few weeks of summer, you may feel like you’re running out of ideas to keep your kids entertained. But don’t worry—we’ve got your back with these three great end-of-summer Family Activities to do with your kids! For example, if your kids enjoy looking at things in greater detail, head over to the library and check out some books about insects or animals they haven’t seen before!
Go swimming
The end of summer is the perfect time to take advantage of the warm weather and go swimming. You can take your kids to the local pool or waterpark to splash around and have some fun. If you don’t have a pool or waterpark nearby, you can always head to the beach. Don’t think that you need to leave home to have some water fun. You can set up a splash pad in your own backyard, have a water balloon fight, and even a water gun fight. This will be one of the last times that you’ll get to wear those fashionable swimsuits from Presley Couture so be sure to take lots of pictures!
Have a picnic
One great end-of-summer activity to do with your kids is to have a picnic. Pack up some sandwiches, snacks, and drinks, and head to your local park. Let the kids run around and explore while you relax and enjoy the nice weather. If you have a little one that’s not old enough to run with your eldest quite yet, you can always sit him in a bouncer chair and let him enjoy the outdoor breeze and the sunshine with you all.
Another fun way to spend an afternoon outdoors for the perfect end-of-summer day is to play outside in your backyard or neighborhood. Grab some bubbles, chalk, and bubble wands, and get ready for outdoor fun! Find yourself a shady spot to hang out and let the kids have at it. It’s also a great way to tire them out before dinner time.
Apple orchard picking
Apple orchard picking is a great end-of-summer activity to do with your kids. It’s a fun way to get them outdoors and enjoy the last few weeks of summer. Plus, it’s a great opportunity to teach them about where our food comes from. Here are a few tips for making the most out of your apple orchard-picking experience:
- Wear comfortable shoes – you’ll be on your feet all day long.
- A stroller can be rough and more of a hassle to push on grass and dirt so be sure to bring your front baby carrier so that baby can have in on all the fun picking action!
- Bring a picnic lunch and find a nice spot to enjoy it. A blanket makes eating outside much more enjoyable.
- Ask what other activities they offer at the orchard (many have hayrides, corn mazes, and petting zoos). You may even want to ask if they offer pick-your-own fruits like blueberries or raspberries (they’re both in season right now).
Don’t forget dessert – many apple orchards offer pies!
As the summer comes to an end, now is the perfect time to start thinking about fun activities to do with your kids. From trips to the beach to days spent exploring nature, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the last few weeks of summer. And, best of all, these activities can be enjoyed without breaking the bank. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and enjoy the summer while it lasts!
