If the travel bug is nipping and you’re looking for some where different to stay there’s some really cool hotels around the world to satisfy. These hotels are a destination all on their own.
Nhow Hotel (Germany)
The design is completely music inspired in a very conceptual way. The Nhow is very technologically advanced with each room having heated bathroom floors, a built in sound system and a TV built into the mirror.
JumboStay (Sweden)
Okay, sleeping on a plane usually sounds like a nightmare but this converted Boeing 747 Plane actually allows you to lay completely horizontal. They managed to fit 27 rooms and 76 beds, the finest of them being the cockpit suite.
Atholl Palace (Scotland)
Say the name out loud, I’ll give you a second to giggle. In addition to being able to tell your friends where you stayed you can also brag about spending the night in a Scottish castle.
Loisaba (Kenya)
Handcrafted Star Beds on a raised platform offer a view of your surroundings, and the night sky, like you’ll find nowhere else. Built on wheels you can move the bed back under the roof, or leave it out on the platform.
Fantasyland Hotel (Canada)
This kitschy themed hotel is definitely something the kids will love. While there are some beautiful themes for adults the real fun ones are aimed at families. What kid wouldn’t love a full sized basketball net in their room? It’s also attached to North America’s biggest mall.
Costa Verde (Costa Rica)
This Boeing 727 from 1965 is perched in the tree tops like a crash landing. Each wing has a balcony looking down from the tree tops where you can watch the beautiful sunsets and the cute little monkeys.
Palacio de Sal (Bolivia)
Ice hotels are a thing of the past. Salt hotels are where the cool kids stay now. The walls, ceilings, tables, chairs and other pieces are made completely of salt. Bring on the tequila!
La Balade des Gnomes (Belgium)
Straight out of a fairytale, the 10 room inn is designed around the idea of the four corners of the world beautifully interpreted as fairy tales.
Montana Magica Lodge (Chile)
This hotel was built inside a volcano, which I’m going to assume is inactive. With nothing else around it has some stunning views and there’s a beautiful natural waterfall that cascades down the side.
Free Spirit Spheres (Canada)
For adults only these spheres are like a modern version of the tree house you never got as a kid. Perched in the rainforest canopy, they avoid disturbing the delicate ecosystem.
