I would love to win this! I co-author a blog with the mother of the family I was a live-in nanny for! We share recipes and our goal is to focus on healthy delicious food from local, organic farms. Our recipes vary in difficulty, but most are easy to make and family friendly–we try to add recipes for baby food and toddler friendly variations when appropriate. We also share information on gardening, hunting, and fishing when that is how we acquire our ingredients! We could desperately use the help! Our blog is rather bland as far as aesthetics go and goodness knows SEO is too complicated for us.

While I enjoy my self-set up, based on a free theme blog, it could definitely use a tune-up (or complete do over!) – and seeing as that is not something I can afford any time in the near future, having it done for free would be so awesome! Dude, I don’t want this giveaway, I NEED it like a fish needs water. I have no computer skillz so all my blog id done by me. I just returned from a huge writing conference and book publisher meetings. One of the first things I needed to do was switch my blog over to WordPress. I have done that and now I can’t afford to have it designed. I need to have a nice blog, as I am working to get my book published about our adoption journey and every pubilsher I met with said I needed to work on building my platform. I am a just-starting-out Voice Over Talent who has been formally trained by a studio in NYC. My website needs to match the way my voice sounds (weird, right?!) Given that I am just starting out, I cannot pay to have this fixed.
The site needs to be warm and friendly but clean and fresh and the information needs to be clear and easily accessible. Also (now this is REALLY weird) it needs to be all in shades of blue because that is the “color” of my voice. I recently saw a logo that did this and it looked really cool!
This site hosts my demo and is my calling card. I have lots of potential, but if my website does not reflect that and professionalism, nobody will get a change to hear me. It really is a catch 22.

I am one of the original mom bloggers (my site will turn 9 this year) – and am design-challenged as well as cash-poor. With my daughter going into her junior year of high school, I am contemplating where to take my writing, as there will be less “mom” content and more “socal” and ME. Also: have been on Typepad platform for all this time, and as much as I keep saying I’m going to move to self-hosted WordPress, I did move a much younger blog over earlier this year and it was a nightmare. It was only yesterday my husband and I thought we should share our wealth of information to the online community. I was working in the kitchen making laundry detergent, baby wipes, freezing organic veggies from the market and juicing some in a wonderful new concoction. Later I made garlic pepper spray for my garden and helped my daughter (16 months old) paint a birdhouse to put out. “I think you should have a blog” my husband announced over a dinner of 40 clove chicken and ratatouille. He went on to explain that he has seen blogs dedicated to things like going green, gardening, saving money and food but I would have it all in one place. I gotta say, I felt pretty appreciated at that moment but also thought it WAS indeed a great idea! Today the link to this contest was shared with me over a friends Facebook link. Coincidence?
