Picking Out Our Christmas Tree.

This is my favorite time of year!

I LOVE the smell of pine in our house. Time to pick out a tree!

This is the first year where Samuel really understands what is happening. He was only home for a few weeks we got our tree last year.

We went to Mr. Greentrees in West Hollywood. It is probably the most famous Christmas tree farm in the West L.A./Beverly Hills area.

The staff is really friendly, the trees are set up beautifully, and they flock in different colors!

Flocking uses toxic chemicals, but it reminds me of my childhood Christmases….

My grandma’s house had a white flocked tree every year.

They also have some gigantic trees.

15-20 foot ones!

We aren’t going to be around the majority of December, so we thought we would just get a tree for the smell (and tradition’s sake) that was small….

The very friendly and helpful man that worked there told us that those 4 ft trees were $100 without the stand!

As much as I loved that place, I’m too cheap to spend that much on a little tree we will enjoy for a week.

Brian was ready to buy it, but my dad taught me the art of Christmas tree shopping.

Thanks to Siri we were off to East LA….

Where we bought our 6ft tree for $20!

We decided just to do just big lights this year…

And a bow on top….

  1. I would not spend $100 on a 4ft tree, either!! Lol, I’m a cheapo. And, way to go, on the 6 ft for $20!! Love the outtakes, too. Happy Holidays!

  2. $100 for a 4ft tree!? Ours was that much but it 8 feet! And we get our tree every year at the lot that Grammy got hers flocked at :) Our attempt at Christmas card pictures turned out much like yours! Which is how we ended up with a collage of pictures for our card this year. Act surprised.

    • Geez you guys got a big tree!

AWWW you got your at a farm. ….and geez, again! That is a great price for a tree at a christmas tree lot.

Yay I’m excited for your card!

  3. Definitely go cheap! Because when it’s all said and done and you’re left picking up the pine needles…the $20 bucks won’t hurt so much. :) We don’t have the luxury of hard wood floors, so those needles have been found year-round over in my parts. I love the simplicity of lights and a bow! Very cool.

  4. Ha, I’m the same. Want my tree, but don’t even want to pat $60 for it so I drive around looking for the best deal which isn’t easy. I need Suri.

You are all so photogenic that even your goofy pics look good, so rejoice! :-)

    • LOL Zoe! Suri is Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes daughter! And I swear that is who Apple named Siri after (being a robot in an alternate world…very scientologist-y)

Yeah, some how there more seedy neighborhoods have the exact same looking trees for a quarter of the price……We may be robbed, but we will find that cheap tree!

  5. Jamie, you are so pretty and your family is gorgeous. :) I’m so glad I found your blog.

  6. I really need to know if the flocked tree reminds you of your childhood because of your grandma, or if it’s the toxic chemicals. Because you once wrote about your mom letting you bug-bomb your own treehouse (or something similar), which I think is hilarious.
Tonight, my eight-year-old son was very seriously explaining to his sister (aged two), that it is very important to use lotion, because while it’s toxic, it is important to stay hydrated.
Also, how cool is the flocking, anyway? I had no idea they did that to real trees, and now I want one in TARDIS blue.
